Why Import from OneRoster?
Utilizing OneRoster data streamlines data management for your district, eliminating the need to manually import student and school information. By importing OneRoster data into your MasteryPrep account, you ensure that your platform has the most up-to-date data, enhancing the functionality of the platform's features.
How to Set Up OneRoster
To connect OneRoster with your MasteryPrep account, follow these steps:
1. Enter Authentication Information
To begin, you will need to enter the following information to establish the connection between OneRoster and MasteryPrep:
OAuth Version: This protocol is used to authenticate and authorize access between OneRoster and MasteryPrep. If OAuth 2 is selected, you will also need a Token URL.
OneRoster API Version: This version defines the data format used for communication between systems. Ensure you're using the latest OneRoster API version supported by both platforms. If supported by your school and/or ClassLink, we recommend using OneRoster API Version 1.2, as it enables smoother integration.
Endpoint URL: This URL serves as the connection point between OneRoster and MasteryPrep. Your district or OneRoster provider usually provides this URL.
Token URL: The Token URL is used to generate secure tokens for the connection. Like the Endpoint URL, your district or OneRoster provider also provides this information.
Client ID and Client Secret: These credentials function like usernames and passwords to verify the connection. They are supplied by OneRoster and are essential for authentication.
After entering this information, click “Test” to verify the connection. If successful, you will be ready to proceed to the next step.
2. Review and Assign Schools
Once the connection is established, OneRoster automatically imports school data into MasteryPrep. You will need to:
- Review the list of schools imported to ensure they are accurately matched to the existing schools already set up in your MasteryPrep account.
- If the system fails to match a school, manually assign it to the corresponding school in your district.
After reviewing, click "Continue" to proceed. If any schools are missing or not listed, please contact MasteryPrep support for further assistance.
3. Select Data to Sync
Next, you will choose which data to sync between OneRoster and MasteryPrep. The available data typically includes:
- Student information (name, grade level, etc.)
- Teacher assignments
- Class rosters
- School admins
- Disctrict admins
The more data you sync, the more features you will be able to utilize within the MasteryPrep platform. Select the desired data points, and once you are finished, click “Continue.”
4. Confirm and Finish the Setup
In this final step, review all your selections. Ensure the schools, classes, and data categories align with your needs. If any information is incorrect, return to the previous steps to make necessary changes.
Once everything is accurate, click “Confirm” to finalize the setup.
After Setup
Once your OneRoster setup is complete, the MasteryPrep platform will begin syncing data at regular intervals. You will be able to:
- View the sync schedule and frequency.
- Pause or resume data syncing as needed.
- See the types of data that are being synced.
- Edit synced data categories to ensure continuous alignment with district needs.
