Purpose
This guide is designed for Admin users who also need access to function as Teachers. While this Dual Admin/Teacher role can be supported within a single Admin account, the platform will not automatically provide an Admin user with access to Teacher-specific features unless you actively turn on this setting.
This guide explains how to get started with Teacher-specific features for Admins.
What You’ll Accomplish
After using this guide, you will be able to:
- Turn on access to Teacher-specific features for an Admin user
- Understand the Teacher-specific features you’ll have access to as a Dual Admin/Teacher user
Enabling Teacher-Specific Features for an Admin User
All Admin users have the ability to enable access to Teacher-specific features for themselves or other Admin users in their organization.
To grant an Admin user access to teacher-specific features:
- Log in as an Admin user
- Using the navigation sidebar, navigate to Users and Groups → Admins
- Locate the Admin user you’d like to update, click the three-dot menu, and select Edit
- In the Edit Admin modal, click the Teacher toggle to grant the Admin access to Teacher-specific features
- Select Save to enable
After Teacher-specific features have been enabled, the Admin user will be able to access all of these features the next time they log in.
Teacher-Specific Features for Admins
Once teacher-specific features are enabled for an Admin user, they will all appear under Teaching Tools in the navigation sidebar. Teaching Tools include:
- Bell Ringers, which allow the Admin user to display Bell Ringers for classes
- Study Plan, which allows the Admin user to edit Study Plans for their students and classes
- Test Administration, which allows the Admin user to administer full-length practice tests to their students and classes
- Assignments, which allows the Admin user to assign specific Online Lessons to their students and classes
Additionally, when Teacher-specific features are enabled for an Admin user, the Admin user will be able to create classes with themselves as the Teacher. The Admin user will also be included in the list of Teachers found under Users and Groups → Teachers.
Best Practices for Dual Admin/Teacher Users
Grant access to Teacher-specific features to any Admin who will need to operate as both an Admin and a Teacher. Doing so will not affect the user’s ability to function as an Administrator. It will only enable additional features they’ll need to function as a Teacher.
