Here at MasteryPrep, we know that many of our students are English language learners, and prepping for the ACT can be difficult enough, even for native English speakers. Unfortunately, the ACT does not support test-taking in any language other than English, so we have historically only provided our test and prep materials in English, as well. However, there are certain accommodations that the ACT does provide students who are ELLs.
To help support your students, the ACT has approved the following supports:
- Additional time (not to exceed time-and-a-half) to complete the test.
- An approved word-to-word bilingual glossary (that does not contain any word definitions)
- Test instructions in the student’s native language
- The opportunity to test in a non-distracting environment, such as a separate room
If you’d like to get a copy of translated test instructions, use this link: https://www.act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/ACT-Translated-Test-Directions-All-Translations.pdf
The ACT also has a list of all approved glossaries, which can be found here: https://www.act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/ACT-ApprovedBilingualDictionariesList.pdf
Additionally, if you’d like to discuss this matter further, or explain your specific needs regarding this topic, please use this link (https://calendly.com/apcteam24/30min) to schedule some time with our product creation team. We’d love to hear more about the ways we can help address the issues your students are facing.
